This is a follow up entry for the lil one i posted last night right before i went to bed. Yes i am BEYOND excited that i was chosen to attend to youth town hall with President Obama for this thursday. Apparently almost 500 kids interviewed for it and around 200 or so were picked. Even better is one of my good friends from my kickball league (yes i play in a league... thats subject for another entry) was invited to attend as well.
So i was already beyond excited when i got the email yesterday, then i got a phone call from MTV!!! The person that interviewed me asked if i received the email with the details about thursday. I said i had, i was just waiting to get an email back from my teacher saying it was ok for me to leave class early before i sent them my confirmation email. She then said she really hopes my teacher does because she shared my interview with the producers of the event and they were apparently "very impressed" (her words, not mine) with my interview and are highly considering me to ask a question during the live broadcast! Nothing was set in stone she said, but she pretty much said to come prepared (i.e. have supporting facts/stats/etc) with a question over the subject i discussed with them in the interview (sorry guys, cant give it away... but if you take a look at some of my highest viewed blogs im sure you can see what subjects i am most passionate about) because they would really like me to ask one. And naturally, as soon as that phone conversation ended i literally jumped up and down, did a little happy dance, and then emailed my teachers saying i WOULD be leaving class early because i was invited to attend the town hall meeting.
So i of course am even MORE excited then i was before. Now here is my new conundrum...
A lot of the media that reported about this even happening were capitalizing on the fact that the initial email one sent in to be considered asked for political interest/views/and a photo. Some were saying they were doing this so they could stack the audience with good looking democrats, MTV was saying they were doing this to get a wide range of diversity and political views. (I myself told them in the interview i was a republican and voted for the other guy... i still got in). A lot are even saying that since this is geared toward the younger audience the questions are not going to be hard hitting and that "the few of us who will be watching will be subjected to a series of juvenile, pointless questions." (I'm sorry, but my question is NOT juvenile and pointless and no, unlike when Clinton did his town hall meeting i will not be asking him if he wears boxers or briefs). So this event is already getting a lot of bad publicity, and with so many questioning the validity of the possible questions being asked, where does that leave me and how will my question be portrayed in the media and/or blogs? (if there is even any talk about it the next day). I am trying to use my possible 15 seconds of fame for good and am going above and beyond to make sure my stats are correct. I'm pretty sure the U.S. Department of (can't tell you guys to preserve my question) is a fairly reliable source (as it also has a Cabinet seat) but im paranoid someone is going to twist around whatever i say...
arrrgggh.....
this is why i could never be a celebrity and why i stick to fairly anonymous blogging.
But if you would like to possibly see me on national television the event will be airing from 4-5pm EST on MTV/BET/CMT.
